We ran everything in a single-tier AWS setup — and it worked, until the technical debt caught up. This talk covers why we moved to a 3-tier architecture, how we migrated PostgreSQL (RDS) and Redis (ElastiCache) with zero downtime, what triggered the shift and how we did QA before and after. We migrated and scaled without Kubernetes. Yes, that’s still legal.
