JuniorDev Auckland Meet

Details

We are excited to announce the next JuniorDev Auckland event!

Join us to hear from our speakers!

Talk 1: “Lessons learnt with the modern data stack” by Kim Fitter

This talk will be sharing some lessons learnt from working in the “modern data stack” for anyone interested in working as an engineer in analytics.

Talk 2: "Why Junior Devs should know about Cloud Computing and where to start in AWS" by Suzana Melo Moraes

Once you choose a technology life, Cloud is inevitable!
As a software developer, you will likely bump into some cloud product at some point in your journey. Suzana will cover some main concepts of Cloud and Cloud Computing, why you should learn about this crucial area and where to start in AWS (or any other cloud provider), including some of the essential products to be aware of as a junior developer.
Even if you just graduated and want to know more about the options around you or a junior developer who wants to upskill but doesn't know where to start in Cloud, this talk is for you!

A bit about Kim
Kim Fitter is a mid-career changer and relatively self-taught engineer, apart from a whirlwind study at the Dev Academy in Auckland. She has worked as a Data Scientist, Front End Engineer and now as an Analytics Engineer at Xero in the Xero Small Business Insights (XSBI) Program.

A bit about Suzana
Suzana Melo Moraes is a junior full-stack developer at Futureverse. She is also an AWS User Group Leader in New Zealand, an AWS Community Builder, and a certified AWS Cloud Practitioner. She is an Auckland AWS Tools and Programming meetup group organiser and a Full Stack Dev Group Auckland NZ and Cloud Native Auckland co-organiser. Suzana graduated as a Full Stack developer in New Zealand after her 40s, having no previous tech background. She also has a bachelor's in Communications with over 20 years of experience from Brazil. Passionate for both areas, Software Development and Communications, she actively uses her skills to increase the number of women, minorities and under-represented groups in tech, help graduates and juniors excel in their careers and support projects focused on the tech community's growth and enablement.

We're looking forward to seeing all of you there!

Please only RSVP if you plan to attend as we use this number to determine how much pizza to order.
