Grassy Waters Preserve: Owahee Trail & Apoxee Trail ride

Details

Most of the ride is on the normal Owahee Trail, but we will also ride a two mile section of trail through the woods called Apoxee Trail if it is dry (which it should be). Plenty of twists and uneven surfaces, roots, and some gravel and more challenging than normal riding. We will go over some brief stretches of boardwalk which are not in great shape.

Let's meet at SWA trailhead on Jog and 45th street. Meet in the parking lot at 7:45 am, pedals up 8:00 a.m. This can be a little tough to see when you get there but it is on the curve between Jog Road and 45th Street. If you are coming from 45th street you will need to pass it and take a U-turn to get to the entrance.

Grassy Waters Preserve is a unique and scenic area that most people have never seen though it is in the heart of Palm Beach county. We will ride on paths carved through the preserve with canals and waterways alongside us. Average speed will be a 10-12 mph and we will ride for about 15 miles, depending on the group's preferences.

The surface will be crushed stone and occasional sand, with sections of tree roots on the Apoxee Trail. Not appropriate for road bicycles.

IMPORTANT: Bring plenty of water, helmet, spare tube. Ride at your own risk. Helmets are required. E-bikes are not permitted on this ride. Emergency contact info is required.
