Grassy Waters Preserve: Owahee & SWA Trails

Grassy Waters Preserve: Owahee & SWA Trails

Details

Meet at 8:00 am, pedals up 8:15. Look for a blue sign (smallish) on the west side of Jog that says "Palmetto Trailhead Park." The sign is shown in the event picture.

Grassy Waters Preserve is a unique and scenic area that most people have never seen though it is in the heart of Palm Beach county. We will ride on paths carved through the preserve with canals and waterways alongside us. The SWA Greenway Trail system is right next to the Owahee trail and curves through a scenic area that includes a large rookery.

Average speed will be 12 mph and we will ride for 15-20 miles.

Most of the ride is on crushed stone and some sand. There are some sections that have uneven surfaces and roots. Hybrids and mountain bikes are fine.

We will meet at the Palmetto trailhead off of Jog north of 45th street. The entrance to the parking lot can be tough to find. If you are heading south on Jog, it is on right side as Jog begins to curve toward the east. If you are coming from 45th street you will need to pass it and take a U-turn to get to the entrance.

IMPORTANT: Bring plenty of water, helmet, and spare tube. Ride at your own risk. Helmets are required.
