•Come on Thursday if you can for extended fun!
This site offers shoreline parking and boat access on Apache Lake. Access via the paved Apache Trail National Forest Scenic Byway, a scenic mountain road showcasing magnificent bluffs above Apache Lake. Nearby are views of majestic mountains with abundant wildlife.
•At historic Roosevelt Dam, turn onto Hwy 88 for 5 miles to Forest Road (FR) 52/ Upper Burnt Corral Recreation Site.
•Tonto Basin Ranger District 602.225.5395
•Tonto pass required. Either yearly or daily pass.
America the Beautiful pass does not work at this location.

•Look for JAWP small/short orange cones at the turn onto FR52.
•Point on map is correct, look for UPPER Burnt Corral not regular Burnt Corral campground.
•Elevated pit toilets and no potable water available.
Just in case: If you feel like it, bring your own potty tent.
Vehicles longer than 22' will have a very hard time on the curves/turns and narrow, bumpy dirt road to the dispersed campsites..
•We will not have a potluck this time due to limited water availability. But snacks to share for happy hour are welcomed.
Friday: Paddle with a buddy, or carefully on your own. Firepit in eve.
Saturday: Leisurely paddle at 9 am toward the marina
•Possible a hike/tour at Tonto National Monument. 10miles/25minutes away. https://www.nps.gov/tont/index.htm
•Snacks to share for 'happy hour'
•Games or a book to relax in the afternoon
•IF you stay at the adjacent campground ($20) with water and toilets, sites are separated from each other and the group AND you won't be on the water.
What to bring:
•Kayak, paddle, PFD/life jacket
•SUP's are ok to use on this paddle
•Camping gear-tent, pad, headlamp, etc
•Camp chair, table, shade shelter (optional)
•TP-just in case (every good camper has extra TP!)
•Food, water, optional snacks to share for happy hour
•Tonto Pass for each night/day
•Firewood
•Propane firepit and propane (optional)
•Fishing gear/license (optional)
•Binoculars (optional)
•Book or games (optional)
•All paddlers must wear life jackets properly while on the water.
