Always a fun memory maker with friends new and old kayaking, hiking, hot springs, campfires, Emerald Cove to name just a few.
•Thursday, camp overnight with us at Willow Beach Jumbo Wash free dispersed. Pit toilets available.
If you must have a campground site, here's a link https://willowbeachharbor.com/campground-rv-park/
•Launch Friday morning at Willow Beach at 9 am*. We will paddle upstream to AZ Hot Springs. *(Depending on water release schedule)
•There are fees to enter the Willow Beach Recreation Area and you'll need the pass to leave your vehicle in the parking area.
Only hard shell kayaks. No SUP's or inflatables. No Pets.
•When the dam is not releasing, there is very little current. The water is cold as it is released from the Hoover Dam.
•It is about 8 miles to paddle upstream to the campsite at AZ Hot Springs.
Windy conditions may be present. The water at the hot springs has an amoeba in it that is dangerous to your sinuses, so it is not recommended that you get your head wet.
•Later, we will paddle up further to the dam and hike up Goldstrike Canyon and Boy Scout Canyon. They have hot spring pools as well. There is a sauna cave just south of the dam.
•Please bring a long rope to tie up your kayak when you beach it as the water levels rise and fall all day.
•We will stay Friday and Saturday night at the campground at AZ Hot Springs. It is dispersed camping with pit toilets and no potable water. A short hike takes you to the hot springs.
•Sunday, you will paddle the 8 miles back to Willow Beach, stay longer, or explore other camp spots along the river.
•Dispersed camping is available on your own. Hotels in the area: Hoover Dam Lodge Quality Inn Sands Motel of Boulder City Las Vegas is also fairly close.
What to bring:
•PFD/kayak/paddles/gloves
•Hat/sunscreen/sunglasses
•Swimsuit/towel for the hot springs
•Hiking shoes/boots/pole
•Camp gear-tent, chair, cookstove, etc
•Food and water
•Firewood
•Long rope to secure kayak to tree
We hope you can make this fun kayak adventure.
You could use a good paddling!
PS-There MIGHT be an option to backpack down instead of paddling. Let me know in the comments if you're interested in the backpack option.
