Urban Athletics: Ride for Momos

WTF is a momo? No, that's not the type of hideous dress that your Aunt Irma from Cleveland is always wearing when you visit her every Thanksgiving. That's a mumu. A MOMO is a type of East and South Asian steamed filled dumpling, it's a traditional delicacy of Nepal and Tibet. They're filled with virtually any combination of ground meat, vegetables, tofu, paneer cheese, soft chhurpi (local hard cheese) combination that the chef can imagine. Think of the dumplings you get from your corner Chinese food joint, just MUCH better.

Today's ride takes us to the far reaches of Queens to visit arguably one of the best Momo spots in the city, the Amdo Kitchen food truck . You can peep what the masses are saying about the joint below, but you may just want to let your tastebuds do all the convincing.

And because a food ride isn't complete without a stop for dessert we'll be stopping to sample the many delightful sweets at Ridgewood's Rudy's Pastry Shop.

• This is going to be a casually-paced (10-12 mph) ride of about 27 miles round trip. You must be comfortable riding in a group and in traffic. Helmets are required.

• Make sure your bike is in good working order before the meetup and bring a lock to leave our cycles. Bring a patch repair kit, air pump, and spare inner tube.

• Check your email the evening before you head out for last minute meetup updates.

• Please DO NOT RSVP if you do not seriously plan to attend as space is limited. No flakes allowed! If you RSVP and I notice that you have a number of no shows or have a history of last minute cancellations, you will be removed.
