Flatcar Container Linux and KubeVirt
Details
In this online meetup, we'll be covering Flatcar Container Linux and KubeVirt. Following is the agenda:-
-
Flatcar Linux, Beyond CoreOS Legacy - 7 PM - 7:50 PM IST - Sayan Chowdhury, Software Engineer at Kinvolk
-
Introduction to KubeVirt and it's Architecture - 7:50 PM to 8:40 PM IST - Neependra Khare, Cloudyuga
Sayan's talk will introduce us to the Flatcar Container Linux which is an immutable Linux distribution for containers. It is a friendly fork of the now retired and no longer commercially supported CoreOS Container Linux. It’s fully compatible with CoreOS and can act as a drop-in replacement. This presentation will also cover what makes Flatcar Container Linux unique, address compatibility concerns and talk about new features that go beyond CoreOS. In the end, the audience should come away with answers to most of the “what”s, “why”s and “how”s of Flatcar Container Linux.
Neependra's session will provide an introduction to the KubeVirt, which adds the capability to Kubernetes to orchestrate virtual machine workloads. This provides a unified development platform where developers can build, modify, and deploy applications made up of both Application Containers as well as Virtual Machines in a common, shared environment.
