Day Workshop: Torma Making with Kelsang Gewang

Details
KMC Tampa Bay is delighted to hold a workshop on the traditional Buddhist art of torma making with special guest teacher, Kelsang Gewang. Tormas are traditional custom-made food offerings (usually made of marzipan or fondant) that are offered to the Buddhas in various ritual practices and prayers such as empowerments, retreats and chanted prayers. Representing an offering of great bliss, tormas can range from very simple to exquisitely beautiful.
Kelsang Gewang will lead this hands-on workshop, teaching this beautiful art. She is an ordained Buddhist nun with many years of experience in the art of making tormas for empowerments, retreats and other ritual practices, and will guide practical sessions on how to make qualified tormas according to the New Kadampa Lineage. She is very happy to share her many years of experience making tormas with everyone.
The workshop will be informal, practical and a lot of fun. It is suitable for everyone, whether you are an experienced practitioner or a complete beginner. Please join us as we learn about the various types of tormas and how to make them in a qualified manner according to the New Kadampa Tradition.
Everyone is welcome. Space is limited and pre-registration will be required to be assured we have appropriate supplies. A free lunch will also be served during the break.
Schedule:
Session 1: 10am - 12pm
