Hey all! Welcome to Kafkaesque Philosophy.

For this session we will be reading the short story by Kafka called Wedding Preparations in the Country. I will be reading from this copy here: However you can read from any copy you find.

Description of work:

"Wedding Preparations in the Country" is an incomplete, fragmented story by Franz Kafka, published posthumously, about the groom Raban's anxious journey to meet his fiancée in the countryside. The narrative details his meticulous observations of his surroundings, his internal anxieties about the impending marriage, and encounters with strangers, all while exploring themes of isolation, duty, and the fear of commitment, characteristic of Kafka's "Kafkaesque" style.

The story begins on page 52 and is approximately 15 pages long. Please read the whole text before we meet.

The discussion will remain focused on the text itself, its philosophical themes, symbolism, and interpretation.
Please come having completed the reading beforehand.
