Kamakura-Zushi Multicultural Meetup

Konnichiwa, everyone!
If you're a non-Japanese resident living in or around Kamakura, come join us to practice and improve your Japanese in a relaxed and friendly setting.

Our organizer Keiko has 30 years of experience in cultural exchange and international support. Her mission? To help you feel more confident and connected in your daily life in Japan.

Whether it’s understanding city rules, emergency info, or just chatting with new friends, learning Japanese can open many doors.

We meet once a month near Kamakura Station. Everyone’s welcome—including kids!

About Keiko:
During her three years studying in the U.S., she was supported by many Americans. Now back in Japan, she pays it forward by helping non-Japanese residents settle into life here—through language, friendship, and community. Her career includes roles with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Japan Foundation, always with a focus on cultural exchange.

オーガナイザーはKEIKO。
私は高校の3年間のアメリカ留学中、沢山のアメリカ人に助けてもらいました。日本に帰国してからは、恩送りで日本に住む外国人を助ける側になりたいと思いました。
以来30年間、国際ボランティア活動を続け、本業でも外務省や国際交流基金で日本文化の広報の専門家として従事しています。

日本に住む外国人にとって、日本語能力を伸ばすことは非常に大事です。
自治体からのお知らせ、学校からの予防接種、ゴミ出しの情報など 、日本語が読めないから捨ててしまうなどというトラブルを防ぎます。

鎌倉に住んでいる外国人、海外経験のある日本人などが知り合って、
より良い地域コミュニティが発展すれば嬉しいです。

このイベントは毎回月曜夜7時ー9時、鎌倉駅近辺で、月１～2回くらいのペースで継続していければと思っています。
イベントは定着するまで参加者は0人～1人の時もあるでしょう。
でもオーガナイザーのKEIKOは必ずいるので、気楽に遊びに来てください。お子様連れも大歓迎です。
