On June 11th we are organizing a MeetUp with two talks about being a minority in tech, and a discussion into the future of manual testing.

”MANUAL TESTING IS DEAD!... LONG LIVE MANUAL TESTING!”

Over the past few years, the IT industry has expressed more than a passing interest in automated testing: It’s become so invasive that it has promoted the demise of manual testing jobs. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? How does this new reliance on automation testing ultimately affect product quality? Will manual testing die off, or is it merely a passing phase?

In this talk I will take a look back into both human and IT history to help answer these questions.

Speaker: Dawn Möller - 31 years in the IT industry, with the past 8 years as a tester. ISTQB and Certified UA. My passion is to fill the gap in QA that automation testing will never be able to achieve – Testing using sight, hearing and touch is what makes the difference between an average user experience, and an awesome user experience.

Outside of work, I have a growing cake business designing and creating cake art for those wanting something a little more special than the average cake.

WOMEN IN TECH - A PATH, HINTS AND SUPPORT

What is special about being a woman or other minorities in tech? Gender gap and minorities' issues are buzzy topics in the industry. What are the difficulties and how can we resolve them together? I will share my perspective on these matters.

The talk is not just for people from the aforementioned groups, but also for those who want to help.

Speaker: Elvira Melentyeva - Test engineer at Kambi, 10 years in the tech industry, Russian expat living in Sweden.  #IamRemarkable facilitator and gender equality activist.
