Annual Temple Cleaning
Details
Carrying on the centuries-old tradition of Chinese and Japanese Zen monasteries and temples, Kannon Do will hold its annual Temple Cleaning Day on Sunday March 29th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Tasks will include items not normally included in our weekly work periods for this day.
Zendo- Deep cleaning will include:
- Cleaning widow screens and doors
- Vacuuming heating ducts
- Moving tans from wall to clean behind
- Removing tatamis and vacuuming tans
- Removing cob webs from corners and high windows
- Wiping down belly bands
- Mopping floors
Sangha house -Deep cleaning will include:
- Cleaning behind Sofa beds
- Cleaning base boards
- Dusting top of library book shelves
- Mopping floors
Please come and join us for whatever amount of time you can offer during this community period. Working together in care for our temple offers a chance to practice samu, an essential aspect of Zen practice. Tea, coffee, and cookies will be provided.
