Annual Temple Cleaning

Carrying on the centuries-old tradition of Chinese and Japanese Zen monasteries and temples, Kannon Do will hold its annual Temple Cleaning Day on Sunday March 29th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Tasks will include items not normally included in our weekly work periods for this day.

Zendo- Deep cleaning will include:

• Cleaning widow screens and doors
• Vacuuming heating ducts
• Moving tans from wall to clean behind
• Removing tatamis and vacuuming tans
• Removing cob webs from corners and high windows
• Wiping down belly bands
• Mopping floors

Sangha house -Deep cleaning will include:

• Cleaning behind Sofa beds
• Cleaning base boards
• Dusting top of library book shelves
• Mopping floors

Please come and join us for whatever amount of time you can offer during this community period. Working together in care for our temple offers a chance to practice samu, an essential aspect of Zen practice. Tea, coffee, and cookies will be provided.
