**Description:**
SQL Audit is a lesser-used feature of SQL Server often an unknown feature to most DBAs. If you have the requirements to have security auditing, often times, we used third-party software to manage it for us. But we can enable SQL Audit and save our company money and do it ourselves if we only knew more about this feature.

In this session, we are going to take a deep dive into the world of SQL Audit. You will learn how to implement SQL Audit, use filtering and make sure it doesn’t impact performance on your instance. We will explore every nook and cranny so that you can implement it to meet the requirements of your environment or just be a SQL Audit nerd. I mean who doesn’t want to be a nerd?

Tracy Boggiano, a three-time Data Platform MVP, wears many more hats than just her tech-savvy tiara. Sound Physicians can count her as their dedicated Database Architect, while the SQL Server world has been relishing her expertise since the days of version 6.5. As the co-pilot of both the Triangle SQL Server User Group in Raleigh, NC, and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Data Community Virtual Group, she is at the helm of data advocacy and inclusivity. She was deemed worthy of the PASSion 2020 award for her exceptional volunteering flair, and RedGate heralded her as one of 2022's top 100 influencers in data, lauding her as a Community Hero.

When she's not knee-deep in data, she's elbow-deep in making the world a better place. Her heart beats loudest for advocating for abused and neglected foster children through the North Carolina Guardian ad Litem program, a role she treasures above all else. Since 2003, she's been the voice for over 65 children, a feat that won her the Overall Outstanding Volunteer Award from the United Way in 2021. Her personal journey with mental health has led her to the PAIMI Advisory Council with the DRNC, championing the cause of individuals with mental illnesses.

The list goes on. She sits on the board of the Foster Family Alliance of NC, a charity committed to weaving a supportive network for children, youth, and foster families, and Youth Lead NC, an organization devoted to helping youth with disabilities bloom into independent, contributing members of society. Plus, she finds time to volunteer at her church. When asked how she does it all, she simply replies with a wink and a whisper of "fairy dust."
