Building Predictive Models using R
Details
We are looking forward to the Karachi R User Meetup, sponsored by Stat Devs and R Consortium
Agenda for the Talk:
Join the Karachi R User Group for an engaging session on “Building Predictive Models using R” presented by Dr. Zarmeen Nasim (Assistant Professor, Aga Khan University).
This talk will guide you through the end-to-end process of predictive modelling — starting with data preparation, handling missing values, and feature engineering, all the way to building, evaluating, and interpreting machine learning models in R.
You will get hands-on exposure to popular modelling packages such as tidymodels and caret, while understanding how predictive modelling differs from descriptive and inferential techniques. Real-world examples will be shared from Dr. Zarmeen’s work in health data science, natural language processing, and social network analysis.
Whether you’re a student, data practitioner, or a researcher aiming to apply machine learning to real-world problems, this session will equip you with practical skills and best practices for developing robust predictive models in R.
