Post-Thanksgiving Potluck Karaoke Party at Eric's
Details
OK folks, bear with me, this is going to be a long one.
I am hosting a post-Thanksgiving potluck karaoke party. One of the main reasons why is that everyone will have all of these awesome Thanksgiving leftovers to share.
The other main reason is my parents will be visiting and I would like to share with them my newfound passion for karaoke, and also have them meet some of my new karaoke friends (anyone is welcome of course even if I haven't karaoke'd with you before).
The only thing though is my parents are both in their 80s and I know they would not enjoy listening to a lot of modern music. So - my idea is to have a themed 1950s-1960s karaoke party with a curated song list and basically give my parents a surprise concert in my living room that has been customized just for them. They have no idea this is happening.
So...I've literally spent hours and hours researching songs from the 50s and 60s, sneakily interviewing my parents about their musical tastes, compiling a list of song for the evening, and finding the best karaoke versions of these songs online. My hope - and I still don't know if this will happen - is that a good number of you will enthusiastically embrace this mission, learn some awesome old songs, and team up with me to make this an incredibly special night for everyone involved.

How this will work:
Yellow cells in the list mean "someone can sign up to sing in this box".
If you want to sing solo songs only, put your name as Singer #1 for up to 5 songs. You can sign up for fewer than 5 if you like. You can add an additional 2 songs if those songs are duets (any song with Singer #2 is a duet). Signing up as a backup singer does not count as one of your 5-7 songs so go ahead and do as many of those as you like.
Please do not edit the list in any way other than to add or remove your name from yellow cells.
A note about the song selection: many of these are famous, well-known songs, but many are not. The vast majority of these songs are very old. Please do NOT go through and pick only famous, well-known songs for yourself and leave all the lesser-known songs for everyone else. The only way this will work is if everyone keeps an open mind and learns some new tunes. Personally I love to learn new songs, but I know some of you get a little set in your karaoke ways. Time to spread your wings and fly, my friends.
I will send my address to those who RSVP. I live in Renton Highlands.
I think that about covers it. I really hope we can pull this off...I think it would be amazing if we do. It's up to you!
