What we’re about

B level beach (occasional grass) volleyball players with experience bumping, setting, hitting, and serving. This is a doubles group. You should be able to dig hard driven balls with some consistency. You should have experience playing doubles.

*New members are accepted on a trial basis*

Please answer the membership questions thoroughly, as this helps me determine if your skill level meets the skill level of this group.

Meetup does charge fees to the organizer (being a member is free) for maintaining the group. In an effort to remain transparent, please feel free to view our financials below. The group accepts donations via venmo (@karli-wilson) but this is not required. When the group money is running low, we may ask for donations.

We play mainly sand and occasionally grass volleyball. Please be able to commit to being on time and at least 2 hours of play. Generally, this group is a good match for people in their 20s and 30s that have experience playing doubles volleyball and are in shape enough to play 2 hours of doubles. When it's hot, we generally rotate sitting out.

We allow 2 no shows before you are kicked from the group. Dropping within one hour of the event is considered a no show. For morning events, please update your RSVP at a reasonable time the night before. The organizers play close attention to the number of attendees and last minute drops causes frustration.

You are responsible for your +1s. If they are not at the skill level of the group, do not bring them out.

If you sign up for a grass event, it is mandatory to help set up and/or break down the net.

This group is not affiliation with an organization/business.

RULES:
*Rules during volleyball play will be enforced by self call or other players. *Please practice sportsman-like behavior and SELF CALL. We use these rules so that if you go on to play at a higher level or a league - then you will be used to playing by the rules.
*No set receives - you cannot set receive the first ball over the net whether its the serve or the other team hitting the ball over the net. The exception to this rule is a hard driven ball (meaning a spike that has NO arch to it - please ask for clarification if you'd like to discuss this rule more in-depth).
*No set overs (unless they are clean - meaning no spin and you are perpendicular to your target)
*No carries
*No double hits (unless its unintentional and one motion)
*No touching the net or the tape during play
*Plane Rule - if the ball has broken the plane of the net the other team can touch it. (Again - ask if you need clarification)
*You cannot reach over the net and touch a ball that is completely on the other team's side

Please be aware of those around you and communicate with your partner. Going after balls that are not yours - is dangerous and may cause someone to get hurt.
