Historic Hike: Neustadt to Hambach Castle - 13 km, 450 hm

We're going to visit Hambach Castle near Neustadt, a historic site because of the Hambacher Fest in 1832, a notable event in the early democracy movement in Germany. We are going to hike to the castle and then take some time for sightseeing, enjoy the view and maybe have a drink.

This is a medium difficulty hike of around 13 km (starting from Neustadt Hbf) and 450 m ascent.
Easy option: If you want to have a very easy hike or just start much later you can join us directly at Hambacher Schloss. There are busses from Neustadt to the castle. From there the distance back is just under 6 km and down-hill almost all the way. We should be there around 1 pm. Please let us know in the comments if you want to do this.

Getting there:

• Take RE 6, Karlsruhe Hbf track 101 at 10:05.
• Arrival time in Neustadt is 10:51. We start hiking from Neustadt Hbf.
• Coming by car? You can join us at Neustadt Hbf or at "Mausoleum Familie Freytag". Please let us know and try to not make us wait.
• I (Daniel) am joining you in Neustadt Hbf.

What to bring:

• lots of water, at least 2 l
• snacks for lunch time. There is a restaurant near the castle, but don't expect good food there. Probably good for drinks, though.
• jacket, and weather appropriate clothing.
