Let's go to the highest point in northern Black Forest again, at over 1100 m above sea level.
This weekend is quite rainy, so I found one of the few places with lower likelihood of rain for you. There are also places to shelter from the rain. Grindehütte is one of best restaurants in hiking areas we've discovered so far. There might be snow and the lake will probably still be frozen. We might be able to walk around on the lake.

This is a fairly short hike with a walking time of just around 1.5 hours. We can spend some time on and around lake and having coffee in Grindehütte and/or Mummelsee.

Getting there:

  • From Karlsruhe Hbf, take the RE at 12:09 (track 12).
  • (This train usually gets crowded, so I recommend getting on the train early.)
  • In Baden Baden take bus X45. ETA in Mummelsee is 13:34.
  • Coming by car? Meet us at Mummelsee (bus stop will be the ideal place to find the group).

What to bring:

  • water and snacks
  • weather-appropriate clothing, sturdy shoes
  • Please bring an umbrella or rain coat just in case.

I encourage you to make a donation of around 5 € per year (cash or via https://paypal.me/karlsoutd). This helps cover Meetup membership costs and supports the time and effort that goes into organizing regular hikes.

If donating isn’t possible for you, that’s fine, you’re always welcome to join.
