About us
Each month we pick one reading (usually 10 to 30 pages, sometimes a single essay or a chapter) and meet to discuss it. Texts range widely: ancient and modern, analytic and continental, ethics, mind, politics, aesthetics, whatever the group finds interesting. Suggestions from members are always welcome.
You do not need a philosophy degree. You do not even need to have finished the reading, though it does make the evening more fun. What you do need is curiosity and a willingness to have your view questioned.
Format: roughly two hours. We start with a brief summary from whoever volunteered, then open discussion. No lectures, no jargon policing, no one person dominating the room.
We meet [frequency] at [venue / area]. Discussions are in [language]. The reading is always shared in advance here on Meetup, usually as a free PDF or link.
Come once to see if it suits you. Bring questions rather than conclusions.
