These days I visited a burger place. Me and my partner walked in, we placed our order through a terminal, payed it and sat down to our space to eat. While we were waiting for our food we talked about our day. Later, the waitress came with our food, placed it on our dining table and walked away. Unfortunately we got a bunch of wrong products.
In my mind I modelled a distributed system around this scenario. As I or maybe you already experienced, this path can be very unreliable and we have to ensure fault tolerance. Clever minds have already found out and shared with us a number of options how we can handle failures in such scenarios. With this talk I would like to share my experiences about how to design such a system with a view of the real world and all different options we've in our toolbox.
This is a story about how I got my wrong toy and my partner an apple.
