Join us on October 28th at ToughTech for an event exploring real challenges in modern software development. Dive into the trade-offs of distributed systems and eventual consistency, and learn how to turn AI into a practical part of your everyday development workflow. Connect with others, exchange ideas, and gain insights you can register right away - don’t miss out!
Agenda:

  • 18:30 "The 40€ AI coding stack: What three years of side projects taught me about paying for AI" by Almantas Karpavičius

Copilot, Antigravity, Cursor, Claude Code, OpenCode: after three years of building side projects with AI and paying for every tool himself, Almantas has kept two of them, for a total of 40€ a month. In this talk he compares what each tool really costs, how its usage limits change the way you work, and which models are worth paying premium for. You'll leave with his setup: strong models for planning and reviews, fast cheap ones for writing the code, and one shared set of skills that moves with you when prices change again.

  • 19:10 “The Developer After Code Gets Cheap” by Bart Kappel (EN)

AI is rapidly changing how software gets built. Writing code, exploring solutions, debugging, and even implementing complete features are becoming faster and increasingly assisted by AI.

But what does that mean for the role of the developer?
This talk looks beyond the tools and technical capabilities of AI and explores a broader question: when producing code becomes easier, where does the value of a software developer move?
We’ll explore how the role may be shifting toward understanding problems, making good decisions, evaluating solutions, navigating trade-offs, and taking greater ownership of outcomes. And we’ll consider what these changes could mean for the skills we develop, how we work together, and how we grow as software engineers.
Rather than predicting the end of programming, this talk is an invitation to think about what might become more important when code itself is no longer the scarce part of software development.

  • 20:00 Bytes & Bites

The opportunity to become a student or a lecturer in disguise as you mingle, snack and connect with fellow tech enthusiasts is all yours. Don't worry about grades - here, laughter and nods are the ultimate measures of success!
