This is the Snow Moon and is a daylight event with SS following an hour later. Cross your fingers the winds cooperate ... The Moon rise is at 5.06pm. We leave the launch at 4.30 PM to make the Moon Rise at the North end of the island. We will watch the MR at the north end of the island then paddle to the south for SS at 7.14 over the sound. This is a day into night paddle, you will need lights for you and your kayak as well as safety gear. Snacks are optional but you should have hydration. Lighting options: glow sticks from the dollar stores, battery lights of all kinds Christmas, camping, bicycle ... even a wide mouth jug with a flashlight in it ! You must by law have a flashlight to shine if boaters are near. Reflectors make you more visible but are not themselves lights, stick on Mailbox reflectors ,wipe surface with alcohol they stay longer cut easily to the size you want, even shape. The ramp is now shell but the end is mucky, be careful. We launch on a falling tide with low at 7.40pm... Paddles dip at 4.30 pm, plan accordingly: latecomers will have to catch up.
Don't forget BUG SPRAY they will tote you off, even this time of year !
