UPDATE: As of 4-13-2017 All cabins and shared rooms are rented. You can still paddle with us but will have to make your own arrangements to stay off site.

IF you still want to join us, contact me and we will try to make arrangements.

PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRELY BEFORE SIGNING UP FOR THIS TRIP. REGISTRATION IS GOING TO BE TRICKY! YOU WILL HAVE TO GO TO:

https://www.eventbrite.com/e/okefenokee-gator-hunt-tickets-32075076417

TO REGISTER AND PAY. YOU DO NOT HAVE A SPOT UNTIL YOU TAKE THAT STEP.

I first visited the Okefenokee last year and am truly sorry I did not go sooner. My wife and I fell in love with it and will go back at least once a year as long as I can walk or be carried!!

The Okefenokee contains many types of habitat – islands, lakes, cypress forests, scrub-shrub areas and open ‘wet’ prairies. We might see sandhill cranes and bald eagles. In April the swamp should be coming totally alive for the summer. As we paddle through the swamp, keep a lookout for alligators, deer, white ibis, herons, egrets and maybe even a black bear.

We will paddle different sections of the swamp on Saturday and Sunday. We will be leaving the boats to explore some islands and have lunch on dry land. We will get off the water early enough Sunday for you to drive home. This is about a 4 1/2 hour drive from Atlanta.

The Eco-Lodge is located in Fargo, GA, just north of the Suwannee River, and is managed by the Stephen C. Foster State Park. The Eco-Lodge is a conference center with a commercial kitchen, meeting room and 10 cottages each in a beautiful, natural, private location. There will be no other guests at the Eco-Lodge besides us! This facility is as nice as anything I have ever stayed at.

There are 4 efficiency cabins that each have one double bed. 4 one bedroom cabins that have 2 double beds. 1 cabin that has 2 bedrooms with 2 double beds in each bedroom. The 2 bedroom cabin does have 2 bathrooms. Since none of the cabins have twin beds filling each of them is going to get tricky. Hopefully we will have 4 couples that take the 1 bed efficiencies. The one bedrooms are suitable for families since they will sleep up to 4 people. Of course the 2 bedroom is ideal for a large family or two small families since it will sleep up to 8. I know many of you will be coming alone and will not want to share a bed so we will pair you up with a same sex roommate. Because of the bed situation we could have from 20 to 40 people on this trip. PLEASE BE PATIENT WITH ME AS WE TRY TO ASSIGN BEDS AND MAXIMIZE PARTICIPATION. If you want to join us on the trip and make your own arrangements to stay somewhere else, camping, hotel, etc, that is fine also.

Cost of the trip will be $125 per adult, $50 per child. That fee will cover your park admission if you do not have an annul state permit and it will include a catered meal both Friday and Saturday night. You will be responsible for breakfast and lunch. The kitchens make that easy! (This fee does not include your cabin or boat rental)

The 1 bed efficiencies will rent for $275 for both nights. These units sleep 2 people.

The 1 bedrooms with 2 double beds will rent for $320 for both nights so if you have a group that does not mind sharing a bed and bedroom, you can drop your cost. These cabins sleep up to 4 people.

The 2 bedroom cabin with 4 double beds will rent for $450 and sleeps up to 8 people.

If you are coming by yourself and want to be matched up with a room mate the cost will be $160 for both nights. If you have a preferred room mate it would make sense for one of you to pay for the entire cabin to insure you are together.

Tandem (2 person) sit on top kayaks will be available to rent for $75 for the weekend.

Single kayaks (sit inside) kayaks will be available to rent for $50 for the weekend.

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE CALL ME BEFORE SIGNING UP.
