Explore the Piankatank River

Details
For this paddle we will launch from Stamper’s Bay Boat Landing and paddle out to Berkley Island (.4 miles) then head upriver another 4 miles or so and take an early lunchbreak. After lunch we will continue a little farther upstream then cross over the river and return down the opposite side to our launch site. All told looking to put in about a 10 mile leisurely paddle. Please bring sunscreen, water, and snacks.
Being protected waters I am going to label this as a novice paddle open to all paddlers. I will advise the folks with shorter boats and limited paddling experience that this will be a mix of long boats and short boats and that you may have difficulty keeping up with the longer sea kayaks and that we will encounter currents and tide flow as this is an up and back paddle. Please use your best judgment in determining if your capabilities will allow you to successfully handle the distance prior to signing up.
As always a PFD is required to be worn at all times while on the water as well as other Virginia Paddlers rules apply.
To get to the launch site:
From Rt 3 in Hartfield, VA turn onto Stampers Bay Rd (Rt 630) and head south. Go about .7 miles to the launch site. 1701 Stampers Bay Rd, Hartfield, VA 23071.
Meet at 9:30 and Launch at 10:00
This event is also being posted on the Virginia Paddlers meetup and I may need to adjust the number of participants.
