Details

Details:

This is a weekend of camping, canoeing and kayaking along the river Wye.

This session we will be paddling the first section from Glasbury through Hay on Wye, then onto Whitney On Wye, which is quite simply one of the most scenic journeys one can make on this river Travelling through a range of historic sites, observing the countryside, wildlife and scenery. See this spectacular countryside from a different perspective.

This trip is open to paddlers of all abilities ... beginners and novices both welcome. There are limited spaces available on this trip... So please RSVP soon as possible.

Kayaks will be provided and all required kit too. The kayaks we will be using are the sit on top type... very stable, easy to use and confidence inspiring.

The Plan :
Friday :
Travel to Glasbury.
We will meet up at the campsite on Friday evening setting up our tents and camp the night there.

Saturday :
Glasbury to whitney on wye - Distance apx 12 miles.
Enter the river at the campsite and take a leisurely paddle downstream. we will stop on the riverbank in Hay for lunch... then continue paddling to The Boat Inn and camp at the campsite.
This section of the River Wye is very rural and you’ll see plenty of wildlife on route. Along the way you’ll pass though some amazing countryside.

Saturday.
Whitney on Wye to Bycross farm. Apx 12 miles.
Paddle down stream to Bycross farm, where you will have the chance to stay another night and camp there or head off.

Price: £120. per person.

Payment is required in advance please.
This is required to pre-book tent pitches at the campsites. And to stop people booking and not turning up.

What;s included in the price ... -
Two nights camping.

-Kayak & equipment

  • Instructor/Coach
  • Transport to the starting point and back to the campsite at the end

What;s not included in the price:

  • Dinners, breakfasts, packed lunches -Getting there: Car share is the best way of getting there. Let me know if you can give people a lift or need a lift yourself and I'll organise.
    What to bring:
Clothing - We will get wet!
So it is important to keep warm. Bring a waterproof jacket and trousers if you can. Otherwise, pack a small dry bag with a change of clothing in case you get wet & cold. Try to avoid any cotton clothing as it is very slow to dry and sucks up warmth. Running or sport gear together with a good fleece and your waterproofs are a good combination. Camping - Bring your tent, mat and sleeping bag. Although ... we do have a number of spare tents and sleeping bags available on request. Feel free to mail me if you have any questions.

This group is open to all interested in kayaking, beginners and novices welcome. The fee charged is for kit hire and this event is to be regarded as a friendship group trip with no responsibility for participant safety being borne by Wet & wild adventures.
