Pink Full Moon & Sunset Night Paddle!

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE POSTING BEFORE SIGNING UP!

Please Arrive early to be in the water at 6:30 pm. Allow enough time to be able to unload your boat & park. Bring wheels/kayak cart to get your boat from the parking lot to the launch area. Do not block the launch - stage your boats alongside. This is a private boat launch for Mahopac residents only and you are my guests so please Do Not Go On Any Private Property. There is a Porta Potty at the launch site. We will not be landing anywhere as the lake is private, so please take care of your needs before we launch. Bring lights, water, change of clothes etc.

We will watch the sunset at 7:32 and then see the moon rise on our way back to the launch. We will paddle around Petri Is to see the Frank Lloyd Wright house and cottage. We will paddle to Canopus Is on the other side of the lake to see the sunset and paddle around watching the colors.

You must have a WHITE LIGHT to be visible on the water. Head lamps also recommended. The more lights the better. PFD's (life jackets) must be fastened and worn at all times. Kayaks 10' minimum with bulkheads and/or float bags. No inflatables, rafts or paddleboards. Canoes & Surfski's OK. You should know how to assist and/or self rescue. Everyone is responsible for themselves. No pets allowed.

We will stay in a pod formation to be visible to the motorboats.

Waivers must be signed if you have not paddled this year with us. Night paddles can be hazardous so please adhere to the guidelines so we all can have an enjoyable time. Must have your own boat/equipment etc. No rentals.

The Pink Full Moon was named after a species of early blooming wildflower by the Native Americans. It is a time of spiritual awakening, letting go of what no longer serves you.
