About us
We started an informal gathering for local female musicians in 2012; open to all ages, instruments, voices, genres and skill levels. There's nothing to buy or sell and no member fees. It's just a way to step out from behind the guys to work on your music with the support of other women. The more people you meet, the more doors will open. If you want to jam at home with new friends or play out, write or record - you can find like minded female musicians here. We meet on a regular basis so join us next time for the fun, fans and friends! Join the conversation at www.facebook.com/groups/kcmusicgirls
Our song circles and classes inspire skills to improve, in a safe setting. Plus you can contact anyone thru our profiles if they look like a good music match for you. We offer public performance opportunities, busking, occasional karaoke and we are restarting our own open mic for women! Let us know if you'd like to participate in any way or join the leadership team!
Then to offer bigger things, we started non-profit "KC Women's Music Network". Through that you can join a mentorship program, put your songs on a Spotify playlist or join the board. We also produced the 1st Kansas City Women's Music Conference, which offers classes and performances.
Come explore what's going on in the KC music scene with us. We have hundreds of members and have put on hundreds of events in the past 10 years. Bands have been born here and lifetime friendships begun here. Now we are expanding with new location, so let us know if you want to host in your neighborhood. What will we do next? Let's make it happen!

The KC Music Girls are local women in music supporting, empowering, teaching, learning, producing events, promoting each other, providing a safe place to start and a hand up along the ladder of success. Since 2012, we've produced hundreds of events for instruction, practice, performance, networking and promotion. Our activities are open to women of all ages, instruments, skill levels and genres. There is nothing to buy and no membership fees.
Our song circles (at www.meetup.com/kc-music-girls) provide a communal, semi-private space to take turns choosing songs we play together, and sit in on learning sessions. Our open mic/jam/stage locations provide the opportunity for women to showcase their talent in public performances and to collaborate with our female jam band, all with a supportive audience.
We curate a Spotify playlist “KC Women Band-Together”, have writing and networking sessions, have provided a platform for busking, karaoke, and did many radio performances together. We meet on a regular basis so, if you want to write, record, perform or start a band you can find like-minded female musicians here.
We have hundreds of members and are always looking for your ideas! We’re here to amplify women’s voices because a healthy world needs to include everyone’s story. Just don’t tell us girls can’t play.
