A New Era of Global Security

The war in Ukraine has altered the way countries around the world think about security, alliances, and the risks of conflict. Drawing on her experience with Russia, Europe, NATO, and U.S. defense policy, RAND policy researcher Ann Marie Dailey will explore what the war has taught us, and what those lessons could mean far beyond Ukraine. How is the global security landscape changing, and how should the United States and its allies respond? Join us for a timely conversation about the choices ahead and what they could mean for the future of international peace and security.

Speaker: Ann Dailey is a policy researcher at RAND and a geopolitical strategist with expertise in the Arctic, Russia, Europe, and Eurasia. She has developed an extensive knowledge of the political, military, and economic drivers underpinning security over two decades of study and experience in the public and private sectors. Prior to joining RAND, Dailey served as the senior advisor to the assistant secretary of Defense for international security affairs (ISA). Her previous work has focused on U.S. defense and security policy in the Arctic; bilateral and multilateral defense cooperation with NATO, Ukraine, and Georgia; and Russia-related programming, budgeting, and strategy as the senior advisor for Russia strategy in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Her recent research has focused on lessons learned from Ukraine and the importance of mission command, sustainment, and maneuver support in large-scale combat operations.

Dailey is a prior active-duty engineer officer currently serving in the United States Army Reserve. She is a certified project management professional with experience working for two Fortune 500 companies focused on energy production and savings. She earned her M.A. in international economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and has studied and worked abroad in Yaroslavl and Moscow, Russia.
