Grief and the Holidays: A Free Online Circle Before Thanksgiving
Details
A one-time evening session, separate from the Tuesday circle, for anyone heading into the holidays after a loss.
Some of the hard dates this time of year are on everyone’s calendar: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve. Others are only on yours. A birthday, an anniversary, the day of the week it happened.
We will spend the evening looking at the weeks between now and January, naming the dates you can already feel from here, and picking one to make a small plan for, something to have with you when that day comes.
How the evening runs: a minute of quiet, a short guided visualization, a round where each person says how much they want to share tonight, then time with the dates, on your own and together.
Nobody has to speak, and passing is an answer. Cameras on are welcome, and off is fine.
Any loss belongs here. A death, a divorce, an estrangement, a diagnosis, a parent who is alive and gone anyway. Nothing gets ranked.
When
Thursday, November 19, 5:00 to 6:00 pm Mountain (7:00 pm Eastern, 4:00 pm Pacific). Free, on Google Meet.
Hosted by
Avery Collura, a grief practitioner in Longmont, Colorado. This is not therapy, and it is not built for a crisis. If you are in crisis, call or text 988, any hour.
The Tuesday circle keeps meeting as usual, every Tuesday at 5:00 pm Mountain.
How the session runs
People list every date they can feel coming between now and mid-January, circle one, and share it in the round. Then each person names one small thing to have with them on that day, framed as building a bank in your field. That second part is what makes it different from Thanksgiving morning.
