About us
Keep Grief Company is a free online grief group. Any loss, any timeline. I host from Longmont, Colorado, most of the group is Front Range, Denver to Boulder and around, and everything happens on Google Meet, so the door is not local.
Grief mostly gets carried alone. People are not cold about it, and the window is just short. For a couple of weeks the messages come. Then they thin out, and you go back to work, and nobody there asks. So you carry it in the car. At three in the morning. In the parking lot before you go in.
One hour a week, you do not have to.
The weekly circle
Every Tuesday at 5:00 pm Mountain, one hour. We meet as one circle, cameras on. Being seen is most of what this hour is. I open with a question or a short reading and go first, and then we go around the room. When the group is large, we split into smaller rooms for part of the hour so everyone who wants to speak can.
Nobody is required to share. Passing on a turn is built into how the circle runs, and arriving with nothing to say is a normal first week. Come and be a person in the room.
Some weeks there is something short to do with your body, or two minutes of writing.
Beyond Tuesdays
One-off workshops and other gatherings post to the calendar as they come.
Who comes
A death last month, or a death from years ago that people have stopped letting you mention. A parent who is still alive and gone anyway. Divorce, estrangement, a diagnosis, a country you left.
Nothing here gets ranked. There is no amount of time after which you are supposed to be finished.
What this is not
Not therapy, and not a replacement for it. I am a grief practitioner and facilitator, not a therapist.
This room is not built for crisis. If you are in danger of hurting yourself, call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, at any hour. Outside the US, findahelpline.com lists lines by country. Come back when the ground is steadier.
Cost
None. If it turns out to be worth something to you, my Patreon, five dollars a month.
RSVP to any event and it will tell you how to get the link.
You were never meant to grieve alone. Tuesday at five. Bring what you have been carrying in the car.
