Welcome to the RFC, Kelowna's Real Friends Club. This small group is for women 50+ who want to invest in genuine friendships that exist beyond scheduled Meetup's that are simply fleeting encounters. Making friends that become family. Women sharing a belief that friendships require nurturing to thrive, kindness and compassion are key, and being authentic is vital. It's about the quality of the relationships, rather than the quantity of friends. I've joined groups in the past that post a plethora of meetups to accommodate the massive number of members and it was hard to make to make connections amongst the continuous flow of new faces. There were groups where the meetups weren't about meeting others, but having people to go an event with, like a concert or a movie. This group isn’t about noisy venues or crowded events, it's being in a more intimate setting, such as gathered around a fire table on a rainy afternoon engulfed in wonderful conversation. A time to relax as we browse the shops while strolling Pandosy Street with a cup of coffee in hand, or going out for dinner so we can wear that 'special thing' that's been hanging in the closet. Perhaps it's collaborating on a backyard BBQ, a joined sing-a-long to the car stereo on the way to winery for a fun afternoon, walking the greenway for some cardio, or sharing laughter while playing a board game on a winter’s night. It's doing things together in environments that promote the opportunity to build long-lasting friendships and wonderful memories. Where we become a community of familiar faces. Recent trends suggest that 50 is the age where we really start to enjoy life. By this age many feel more confident than ever before, and are in a position to start getting the most from life. These are my people! This group is all about building friendships that will only get stronger as we embrace this wonderful time of our lives. We are women from all races, ethnicities, nationalities and cultures--a family of female friends who are ready to slow down from the rat race, connect and grow.
