Lessons in Stoicism/The Discipline of Desire

Details
For May's selections, we will be covering John Sellars "Lessons in Stoicism". As this is a rather short book, we will also be beginning with Massimo Pigliucci's "A Handbook for New Stoics: How to Thrive in a World Out of Your Control - 52 Week-by-Week Lessons". This book is divided not only into weekly lessons, but also by the 3 disciplines of Stoicism; Desire, Action and Assent. This month we will review the discipline of Desire, as in what is and is not appropriate to want, being mindful of what is, is not, or is only partially within our control, “so that he may neither fail to get what he desires, nor fall into what he wants to avoid." (Discourses 3.2).
