Welcome to Data & Stories, a friendly, inclusive community for people who love exploring stories hidden in data, with a special focus on Africa.
We center African datasets because they hold rich, diverse, and often under-explored stories that deserve more visibility. At the same time, the community is open to everyone, no matter where you’re from or which topics you usually analyze.
Curiosity is the only requirement.
Think of this group like a data book club.
Each month, we choose an African dataset(or if we decide otherwise, another dataset of our choice), explore it independently using whatever tools you prefer (Python, R, Excel, SQL, PowerBI, Notebooks, AI/ML - anything), and then meet to share insights, ask questions, and learn from each other.
This is a community-led space, not a classroom.
Every month, members can volunteer(through a simple form) to share a presentation of their insights, visualizations, ML models if any, or their thought processes. It’s completely optional - a gentle way for anyone to contribute when they feel ready.
Whether you're into analytics, visualization, machine learning, research, or just curious about data-driven perspectives on Africa, you’ll feel at home here.
