After Twickenham and a stop at the cafe we then have a beautiful stroll along the River Thames to the beautiful town of Richmond. We will walk through the remaining parts of Richmond Palace founded by Henry VII in the 16th century, from which the town derives its name. During this era the town and palace were particularly associated with Elizabeth I, who spent her last days there and died in the Palace. During the 18th century Richmond Bridge was completed and many Georgian terraces were built, particularly around Richmond Green and on Richmond Hill. These remain well preserved and many have listed building architectural or heritage status.

Richmond also has the Poppy Factory which produces the remembrance poppies sold each November for Remembrance Day.

We will see and hear the history of Richmond Green described as "one of the most beautiful urban greens surviving anywhere in England" The Green attracts many residents & visitors. It has a long history of hosting sporting events; from the 16th century onwards tournaments and archery contests have taken place on the green and near the end of the walk see where the The Beatles met the Rolling Stones for the first time!
Pubs and cafés cluster by the green in the corner by Paved Court and Golden Court – Cobbled alleyways are lined with boutiques and cafes, wonderful riverside settings where you can socialise afterward or as a group we go for a drink/meal.
