What we’re about
This group is about Kino KL activities, the first Kino cell in Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur.
The Kino movement was founded in 1999 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada by Christian Laurence and friends. They started the movement by meeting up every month and screening their short-films. It has since spread worldwide, and is now composed of almost 100 physical cells over the world.
Kino is a movement created as a means of providing both amateur and professional filmmakers with a place to create and screen their short-films.
We are an oasis of creativity outside the industry, our community is based on time sharing and generosity.
This is a bohemian way to do filmmaking, the short-films we are doing are low (zero) budget and there is no competition, no prize or no money involved. We are doing movies together because it is our passion and we are loving it! You will not be paid to act or to be involved in our movies, but you will not pay a filmmaking school to learn with us!
Our motto is: we do well with nothing, we do better with a little, but what matters is that we are doing it now!
