It’s time for another Kitchen Catch-Up, and this one is shaping up to be a technicolour banquet.
The theme:
“Pick a colour, build a dish.”
Choose a colour and let it lead the entire creation, from core ingredients to finishing touches. Bold, moody, playful, elegant… the table should look like an edible art gallery by the end of it.

Potluck Menu (to date) :
- Pink - TBC / Beetroot Soup (Brandon)
- Orange - Chicken Biryani (Minakshi)
- Orange - TBC (Sofie)
- White - Coconut Chicken Curry (Pratik)
- White - Creamy Garlic Cauliflower (Fahmida)
- Yellow - Indian Lentil Daal (Amit)
- Red - TBC (Shona)
- Blue - TBC (Marc)
- Green - Pistachio Thumbprint Cookies (Freya)
- Purple - Beetroot Cheesecake (Natia)
- Dishes to be added as people's choices on their contributions are shared
And we'll have cups, plates, cutlery and serving spoons available, so no need to bring these for your dishes.
Logistics :
🕔 Doors open: 12:30 PM
🍽️ Dinner begins: ~1:00 PM
📍 Location : A few minutes walk from Merrylands station. Location details be emailed to attendees a couple days prior to the event.
Parking options : 3 hrs free at the nearby Stocklands Shopping Centre and Street parking is also available nearby.
We will include contact information in the email prep notes with the location details in case anyone needs help to find us.

🔵 Blue (the brave category)
Butterfly pea rice/tea, blue spirulina desserts, blueberry-forward dishes
⚫ Black (dramatic, mysterious energy)
Black sesame desserts, squid ink pasta, black rice, charcoal buns
⚪ White (minimalist elegance)
Coconut-based dishes, panna cotta, garlic-forward creations, cauliflower centrepieces
🟤 Brown (comfort-core)
Chocolate anything, roasted meats, mushroom dishes, caramel desserts
🌸 Pink
Rose desserts, watermelon, rhubarb, blush-toned savoury plates
🟠 Gradient / Duo-tone
Layered desserts, two-tone dumplings, marbled cakes
🌈 Multicolour (overachiever category)
Rainbow salads, mezze spreads, layered jellies, anything that looks like it belongs in a stained-glass window
✨ Bonus Chaos Round (optional, for maximalists):
- “Metallic” illusion (gold leaf, shimmer dust)
- “Transparent” (jellies, broths, glass noodles)
- “Unexpected colour” (e.g., green dessert that shouldn’t be green but works)
