What are your mountaineering goals?

I am interested in hiking and scrambles primarily in the Olympic Peninsula and almost always with camera in hand.

What do you want to learn from your being a part of this group?

I would like to update my very rusty skills that I had when I was here in the 1980s and learn the latest about climbing techniques and equipment. To accomplish that, I would like to take a number of the courses the Mountaineers offer and take part in group outings.

What skills do you have that can contribute?

I think that my strengths are in leadership and management, both of which are probably most useful to the branch managers. I also am fairly strong in the application of land navigation principles, especially use of maps.

What are some of your mountaineering experiences, if you have any?

Since taking the scrambles course with the Tacoma branch, I have summitted Bean Peak, Mary Peak, Eagle Peak, Buckhorn Mountain, Mount Ellinor (winter route), Mount Adams, and Mount Rainier (this one with and IMG guide).

After a long absence from the Pacific Northwest, I returned in 2011 and have picked up on all the outdoor activities I so enjoyed before. I am especially interested in hikes and scrambles in the Olympics.

What Jeff S. is saying about this Meetup Group

The Kitsap Mountaineers is a very good organization to join if you are interersted in joining good people for outdoor activities on the Kitsap Peninsula, Olympic Mountains, and the adjoining waters.
