What we’re about
Who are we? Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to making a difference one child and one community at a time. The Kiwanis of Fort Vancouver serves the community and its members by organizing volunteer opportunities as well as social events and fundraisers. Our club consists of a diverse group of members and we welcome all those interested in volunteering. All ages and backgrounds are welcome to join us.
What we do? We live to serve and we love to serve! Members of Kiwanis worldwide contribute more than 12 million hours of service a year. Have you heard of Key Club? Kiwanis sponsors youth leadership programs like Key Clubs in high schools which teach students the value of community service.
Our club organizes and participates in a variety of service projects throughout the year including: Annual food drive known as "Walk and Knock" We aid the Kiwanis-Doernbecher Children's Cancer Program through donations and fundraising as well as Babies in Need, Pride for Kids, Camp Wa-Ri-Ki, Key Club Scholarship Programs and more.
We also regularly plan social events for members like meeting up for dinner, festivals, and other events.
What happens at meetings? Our meetings are held the 1st three Wednesday of the Month in downtown Vancouver, Washington. We meet from 11:30-1:00pm. Meetings consist of a meal from the lunch menu, run-down of the upcoming Kiwanis Club events and review of past events, as well as an update on our service leadership youth clubs. We typically dedicate the last 30 minutes to a variety of interesting topics presented by guest speakers. Topics are usually related to local community activities or services, but may also be on broader issues such as Energy Conservation, Health and Financial Management. While we will invite people to become a Kiwanis member however membership is not required to join us for lunch and enjoy the speaker of the day. In addition to these weekly lunch meetings, we also participate in or host other social and volunteer events throughout the year.
