Kizomba Classes (6-week Winter series)

Join Kizomba RDU for our progressive 6-week course! This winter we are offering two levels of courses to grow in your Kizomba dancing.

Kizomba is a beautiful partnered dance that is heating up the dance floor. Originating in Angola (Africa), Kizomba emphasizes connection—between you, your partner, and the music.

✨ No partner required. We rotate throughout class so everyone has the opportunity to dance.

----- Class Descriptions -----

⏰️ Kizomba I: Foundations | 8:00–9:00 PM
This class is for brand-new and beginner dancers, with no prior experience required. You’ll learn the core foundations of Kizomba, including proper technique, connection, body movement, musicality, and leading and following skills. The focus is on building confidence and strong fundamentals so you can dance Kizomba comfortably in a social setting.

⏰️ Kizomba II: Improvers | 9:00–10:00 PM
Unless given teacher approval, this class can only be taken if currently enrolled in Kizomba Foundations. Designed for advanced beginners to intermediate dancers, this class builds on the Foundations level. Students will work on saídas, combinations, technique drills, and deeper musicality for social dancing. Dancers should be comfortable executing retracesso and vírgula.

📌 Please Note:
Kizomba RDU classes are not structured as strict “levels” where students move up once and never return. Each cycle introduces new techniques and concepts to support well-rounded social dancing in Kizomba and Semba. Students may be encouraged to take Kizomba I: Foundations for more than one cycle.
