the art of giving and receiving help: a world café discussion

Details
ever feel unsure how to ask for help – or what to do when someone asks you?
in our busy modern day lives, it can sometimes feel like we’re all carrying a bit too much – but don’t know how to ask for help. many societies celebrate independence and “having it all together,” and reaching out for support can seem vulnerable, awkward, and even shameful. we bottle things up, quietly struggle, and feel like we should be able to handle it all on our own. at the same time, many of us want to support others – we just don’t always know how.
through a guided discussion, we’ll explore what makes asking and receiving help feel hard (or nourishing!), and how we can create cultures and communities where mutual support is more natural and joyful. we'd love for you to join us!

⚙️ how it works
inspired by the world café conversation method, we’ll gather around small tables in rotating groups to discuss curated questions across numerous rounds. this method is famous for encouraging cross-pollination of stories, insights, and perspectives. at the end, we’ll harvest the insights of the room. through this process, we’ll engage in a kind of collective sensemaking.
keep in mind: we aim to be a safe, brave, no-advice and zero judgment space where you can share authentically and deeply listen to others. by joining this event, you agree to follow kizuna's community agreements.

🌱 about the venue
Impact HUB Tokyo & Communita Cafe
Impact HUB Tokyo is part of the Impact HUB Global network, a global community of entrepreneurs seeking to create social impact.
Since opening in 2013, they have provided a community co-working space for a diverse range of entrepreneurship, working styles, industries and cultures, bringing together many entrepreneurs and start-ups, freelancers, artists, intrapreneurs and NPO leaders from Japan and abroad, and continues to foster collaboration between its members.
From 2022, it became an incubation center accredited by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and offers entrepreneurial programs. In 2023, it launched a café, “Communita Cafe”, which is not only open to the community but allows locals, neighbors, entrepreneurs and freelancers to come together.
