Knotty Knitters, Happy Hookers and Salacious Spinsters Weekly Meetup
ANNOUNCEMENT: BEGINNING JULY 2, WE WILL BE MOVING LOCATIONS TO THE UPPER LEVEL OF HY-VEE AT 95TH AND ANTIOCH IN OVERLAND PARK, KANSAS. PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT I HAVE MOVED THE BEGINNING AND ENDING TIMES BACK ONE HOUR TO 6-9 (instead of 7-10). Every Monday night we have our regular gathering in the dining room of Hy-Vee at 95th and Antioch in Overland Park, Kansas. This is a perfect location for us since we can get a healthy dinner (or not-so-healthy if we want) and even do our grocery shopping after "group". Come and work on your current project, tell us what you have been working on or what you have finished, eat and drink and have a blast! Feel free to come when you can and stay for as long as you wish. We don't lock the doors to late comers or boo those who have to leave early. We are an easy-going group and are happy to have you join us for as long as you can. To put your mind at ease regarding the "Attending" stats, we usually have 5-7 people at every meeting, sometimes more, occasionally less. Almost all of our group members begin attending when they find us on Meetup but, as I am sure you can imagine, RSVP'ing to a weekly event becomes tedious after a few months, to say nothing of a few years. For that reason, people rarely RSVP after 2-3 months. Please be assured that, while it may look like there is only one person attending, there never is. You will be in good company, I promise! :) Also, please note that the donation of a dollar per person is just that, a donation. We take the donations, not to make ourselves rich, but to pay for the meetup membership. While Meetup is free to those who wish to attend groups, there is a significant fee to organize a group. The donations go to pay this fee. However, if you are short on cash you are still welcome to attend, we promise that we welcome everyone. That being said, some of our regular attendees prefer to make one larger donation of $10 - $15 every 3 months or so just to make things easier on themselves. The choice is yours and anything (even pocket change) is appreciated.

What we're about

This irreverent and bawdy group is made up of fiber artists who go against the grain. Members of this group are Agnostic, Atheist, Pagan, bisexual, lesbian, poly-amorous etc. and/or any combination of the above -OR- perfectly fine socializing with people in those groups. If you are hyper-sensitive, you may feel more at home in a different group. If, on the other hand, you are open-minded and not offended by this description, then you are perfectly welcome. While the name of this group references knitting, crocheting, and spinning all stitchery related crafters are not only welcome, but whole-heartedly encouraged to join, including, but not limited to quilters, sewers, tatters, embroiderers... (heck, even beaders) :)

We are happy to teach others what we know and would like to encourage more advanced crafters and beginners alike to join the group. Even if you have no idea where to begin, we can get you started. You don't have to to know how to knit or crochet in order to attend. Ideally, we want to have crafters of all levels who can learn from each other. Are you a whiz at tatting, but know nothing about crochet, come on in, we need you.

We have weekly Monday knit nights, occasional Saturday knitting groups, and monthly field trips to someplace fun and our own message board on Ravelry at and would encourage all of you to register with Ravelry (Mecca for fiber artists) and join our group.

Welcome!, to the Knotty Knitters Happy Hookers, and Salacious Spinners of Greater Kansas City.
