A NEW HIKE TO THE SUMMIT OF CLOVER BUTTE

Details
Clover Butte is one very pretty small butte with a flat top. It is located 20 miles west of Klamath Falls and a couple of miles north of the clover creek road. This is a cross-country bushwack hike. There is no organized trail, we created a route to the summit
This hike has a total distance of almost 1.5 miles round trip with a 400 ft elevation gain and is classified as advanced moderate. It uses our newly created somewhat rugged trail that has a few sections a bit steep going up and down in a total wilderness environment. Choosing good footing and hiking pole placement is very important since there are rocky as well as soft sections to maneuver through. Please, use caution. There are abundant markers to help you find the way up and down.
IMPORTANT hike description; It's only a little over two thirds of a mile long one way, to the summit. The first third is on a flat road allowing you some warmup time before the uphill second section starts. It will be a cool hike due to the higher elevation and lots of tree shade. After lunch we will take the same trail back down slowly to the trail head.
There are lots of cairns, rocks, sticks to maneuver around as well as a few logs to climb over going up and down.
TIMING... We will depart our Moore Park marina at 8:30 AM.
It is a 23-mile drive that will take 40 min to our trail head... down Rt 97, right on Rt 66 to Keno, right on Clover Creek Road to Mile Post 11 then right on Rt 3828 which is a gravel road for 2.6 miles. Park on the right-hand side in the shady section.
Our total drive and hike time will be 4 hours. We will be done early in the afternoon. Our weather for our hike looks very good.... Sunny, light winds, and mid 70s. Good hiking boots and hiking poles are recommended. Also do wear long pants, long sleeve shirt, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, snacks, water, cell phone.
We did not notice mosquitos on this hike
Well behaved are dogs are OK on this hike.
