This hike is classified as advanced beginner with some light intermediate sections. It has a total distance of 2.0-miles one way with only a hundred feet of elevation change. We will hike on a very pretty abandoned and totally cleared up road-trail along the klamath river where we can see hear and smell the continuous cascading river which is moving along in its spring force. There are lots of pretty views along our trail where we will be able to stop and take a photo. At the end of the 2 miles we will hike up a micro size hill to a large picnic table and have our lunch .

After lunch we have an OPTION that you may or may not want to choose. You may want to go back the same way we came along the river with more views and more pictures. and hike back on the same wilderness trail with different
views of the river. OR you may add another .5 miles each
way to see a nice klamath river rapids. This will add 1.0 miles
to our trip making it a total of distance of 5.0 miles.

There will be a spring type atmosphere on this hike with sights, sounds and smells that you will enjoy. Since our hike is 1000 ft lower than the altitude of Klamath falls, do expect to hike in a warmer
environment. However, bring a windbreaker since winds are created by the motion of the river. Wear a long sleeve shirt as well as long pants, bring a hat, gloves sturdy hiking boots and hiking poles. Also, lunch and water would also be very good choices.

IMPORTANT: IF YOU ARE DRIVING, YOU WILL NEED A HIGH CLEARANCE VEHICLE. YOU DO NOT NEED A 4WD. THERE IS ABOUT 8 MILES OF GOOD GRAVEL ROAD THAT ARE NARROW AND GO UP AND DOWN WITH SOME ROCKS ON THE ROAD THAT NEED TO CIRCUMNAVIGATED.
THERE ARE ROAD POTHOLES THAT CAN BE AVOIDED IF YOU DRIVE CAREFULLY. THERE ARE A FEW ROAD PUDDLES WE WILL PASS THROUGH VERY SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY.

AS WE PASS BY THE JOHN C BOYLE POWERHOUSE AREA, WE WILL STOP FOR A BREAK SO THAT YOU WILL SEE ALL THE CHANGES THAT TOOK PLACE SINCE THEY REMOVED THE DAM.

DIRECTIONS: We will leave the Moore Park Marina at 10 AM and carpool to our trailhead, which is 28 miles from our meet up. Since the one hour
drive to the trail head is rather complicated, I will provide all drivers with a map at our meet up and we will make sure all drivers understand the route. We will caravan to our trail head.

We drove to the trail head and hiked this trail on thursday.
Dogs are welcome on this hike, do be aware that there are
some ticks around.
