ONE EXCITING LOOP HIKE IN THE SKY LAKES WILDERNESS

This counter clockwise loop hike is for intermediate hikers. It starts at the Cold Springs trailhead in the sky lakes wilderness and stops for lunch at the Heavenly Twin Lakes , a distance of 2.5 miles on the south rock creek trail. This trail section has been completely cleared. After lunch you will have the option of continuing the loop on the cold springs trail a 3 mile hike that still has several small as well as medium size logs across the trail.
If you do not feel comfortable going over these logs you may choose to return to the trail head on the same trail you came in.

MEET UP: We will leave our meetup location at Moore Park at 9 AM, It is a 35 mile drive going west on RT 140 to mile post 41 where we turn north on the 10.3 mile gravel road ito the cold springs trailhead. This road is in good condition , however there are potholes but no ice or snow .Do anticipate averaging 20 mph on this road. There is no need to have a 4 WD car on this road. At our TH there is a toilet and room for multi cars to park. There were no mosquitos present last week but bring bug spray as a precaution.

FROM MEDFORD .... Drive east on RT 140 to mile post 41. Turn left on FR 3651 going to cold springs and meet us at the TH. at 10 AM.

Do bring Sturdy Hiking Boots and wear layers, hat, sunglasses, gloves, lunch and camera.
Bring water although properly filter lake water is ok.

Our weather looks great for saturday. Sunny and light winds
warm with temps in the low 70s.
Dogs will love this hike.
