Fun overnight backpack into Sky Lakes Wilderness

Join us Saturday, August 2nd for a self-supported overnight backpacking trip in the Sky Lakes Wilderness! Plan is to leave Cherry Creek trailhead at 8am for those wanting to do trail work on the way in (using cross cut saw to log out trees). And for those just wanting to backpack, we will leave the TH at 9am. Hike is around 6 miles. There are some creek crossings so bring sandals or water shoes. The last 2 miles are steep with some switchbacks. We will then camp at Trapper Lake or Margurette Lake. (Plan may be subject to change). Recent backpack experience is helpful. Tools will be provided for those doing trail work.

A backpacking checklist & map/directions will be sent out with final details and we will be practicing Leave No Trace principles!

We will take our time going in & will make sure to stop to hydrate and snack and just enjoy being in the great outdoors!
