Faster Release Cycles, Happier Users: Leveraging OTA Updates for Your React Native Android Apps

Abstract
Multi-platform solutions are becoming more prevalent in the mobile space. They allow us to address some axioms (established principles), such as the length of release cycles, time-to-customer, and how quickly we can respond to problems in production.

From the time we submit to the store, traditional app releases can take upwards of weeks to reach users. This is due to several factors, such as: rollout, automatic updates settings, and availability. In this talk, Mike will discuss these challenges and possible ways to address them in the context of React Native apps.

No prior React Native experience is required for this talk.

Mike Duminy is a Principal Engineer at Klarna. He works on the core architecture that underlies the various Klarna App targets and cares deeply about developer experience.

In this talk, Thiago will navigate us through Klarna’s app performance, focusing on key practices and protocols in profiling and performance monitoring. Attendees will gain meaningful insights into Klarna’s approach to app optimisation, understanding how these methodologies have evolved with time and seamlessly integrated into the software development lifecycle. This talk is tailored for software and app developers and others responsible for app performance, aiming to highlight common app performance design patterns that elevate the user experience.

Speaker bio:
Thiago, a Senior Software Engineer at Klarna, brings a decade of experience and passion for optimised software to his work. He blends proficiency in multiple technologies including React Native and Kotlin.

Location: Luntmakargatan 25 (on the backside of Klarna’s office).
Directions: Take the green subway line to Hötorget. Walk 250 meters. There are also several buses stopping at the Hötorget bus station, just a few hundred meters from the location. See location on Maps.
