The Alya Range is a breathtaking part of the Pamir-Alay mountains, offering dramatic landscapes, lush valleys, crystal-clear rivers, and rugged peaks. The untouched beauty of the region provides an incredible backdrop for hiking, with views that are both remote and majestic.
Kyrgyzstan is still relatively off the beaten path compared to more well-known trekking destinations, which will allow us to experience the mountains in a pristine and less crowded environment.
The trek itself will take 6 days and leads us through a variety of terrains, including alpine meadows, over rocky paths, providing dramatic views of the peaks of the Alya Range, some of them snow-capped.
We will hike to Achik-Tash Base Camp at the foot of the Lenin Peak and will make our way up to Camp 1. For those who feel they are up to the challenge, they can ascend the Yuhina Peak (5,130m asl).
Accommodation will be twin sharing in a 3 pax tent. Camping equipment, like tents and cooking utensils will be provided. However sleeping bags and sleeping mats have to be rented (or bring your own).
Base Camp and Camp 1 have toilet and shower facilities.
We will engage horses for the luggage transfer, so you will only have to carry your daypack.
Once we arrive at the Base Camp, we leave our belonging there. For the hike from Base Camp to Camp 1 and the optional Yuhina Peak hike you just need to bring essentials or you can pay for porter services.
Although there are no organised activities on Day 1, make sure to arrive in Osh on Day 1 as we have booked accommodation for that night. Also for Day 9, upon finishing the trek, hostel/guesthouse accommodation is included in the package.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you have a gps navigation app (like ~in alphabetical order~ AllTrails (paid version), Gaia, Hiiker, Komoot, Maps.me, OSMAnd, Wikiloc,...) installed on your phone and make sure that it is working properly. If you don't have an app installed yet, we suggest to use Hiiker to start with. Once you have downloaded the offline map of Malaysia, you can easily import and navigate any gpx file. More info can be found in the Knowledge Base sub Event Information (general) - How to prepare myself for navigation...?
Do not come to the venue if you have not pre-installed a gps navigation app at home, or have not downloaded the map of India at home, or have not opened the test gpx file at home. Every week, we notice that too many hikers arrive just before the event starts and are absolutely not prepared which is jeopardising the scheduled timing of the event. Especially iPone users are urged to make sure that they can open the test gpx file at home and are able to navigate.
Although there will be guides, this still remains a self-guided hike. You will receive a gpx file in advance and you will have to navigate yourself. There will be no paper markers.

IMPORTANT: keep in mind that there is always a chance that we are not allowed to hike due to dangerous weather or other conditions (eg heavy rain, flood, earthquake, landslide, health measures...) - we cannot be held responsible for such cancellation.
