We head for some lesser known and hiked mountains in the Kuala Pilah area in Negeri Sembilan.
As well Bukit Bertam as Bukit Sikai are located near Seri Menanti, in the 'backyard' of the Angsi Forest Reserve. Bukit Senaling is located in the Johol Forest Reserve.
The hike to Bukit Bertam (422m asl) starts at the Kuala Pilah - Senaling - Seri Menanti road. We follow a narrow tarred road through the countryside before reaching the trailhead at the foot of Bukit Bertam.
The hike is gently uphill, more than nine kilometres in total and has an IBP rating of 45.
Upon return, you can head for the trailhead of Bukit Sikai, which is located further down the road toward Seri Menanti. This is a short optional hike of more than three kilometres in total and an IBP rating of 32.
After the Bukit Bertam or the Bukit Sikai hike we head for the campsite where we will spend the night. You have to bring your own tent and other camping gear. The campsite has toilet facilities and there is power supply. The car park is closeby, which is quite convenient.
The next morning we head for Bukit Senaling, The reason why Bukit Senaling is well-known is because it is famous for its sea of clouds at dawn. We will start the hike at 06:00 am and, weather conditions permitting, we might be able to witness the sunrise near the summit.
Also the Bukit Senaling hike follows a gently uphill trail. We follow the same way in and out for a total distance of more than five kilometres - IBP 40.
There are car park and shower facilties at the trailhead. Fees for these facilities are included in the participation fee.
After the hike we will head back to the campsite to break camp if you haven't done so before the hike.
Even if you are not fit or have not hiked for some time, you don't have to give this event a miss, but accept the fact that you will not be able to summit. As always, it is about the journey, not the destination...!
Do note that this is a paid event.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you have a gps navigation app (like ~in alphabetical order~ AllTrails (paid version), Gaia, Hiiker, Komoot, Maps.me, OSMAnd, Wikiloc,...) installed on your phone and make sure that it is working properly. If you don't have an app installed yet, we suggest to use Hiiker to start with. Once you have downloaded the offline map of Malaysia, you can easily import and navigate any gpx file. More info can be found in the Knowledge Base sub Event Information (general) - How to prepare myself for navigation...?
Do not come to the venue if you have not pre-installed a gps navigation app at home, or have not downloaded the map of Malaysia at home, or have not opened the test gpx file at home. Every week, we notice that too many hikers arrive just before the event starts and are absolutely not prepared which is jeopardising the scheduled timing of the event. Especially iPone users are urged to make sure that they can open the test gpx file at home and are able to navigate.
This is a self-guided hike. You will receive a gpx file in advance and you will have to navigate yourself. There will be no paper markers.

IMPORTANT: keep in mind that there is always a chance that we are not allowed to hike due to dangerous weather or other conditions (eg heavy rain, flood, landslide, health measures...) - we cannot be held responsible for such cancellation.
