Nestled within the Trusmadi Range in the Tambunan district of Sabah, Mount Sinsing and Mount Kaingaran stand as two of Malaysia’s most remarkable highland destinations. Known for their demanding trails, mystical mossy forests, and sweeping panoramic views, climbing both mountains will be our next Sabah challenge.

Mount Sinsing (2,586m asl / 8,484 ft) - Officially confirmed in May 2023 by the Sabah Forestry Department, Mount Sinsing stands as Malaysia’s third-highest mountain, after Mount Kinabalu and Mount Trusmadi. Its summit offers a full 360-degree panorama, making it an outstanding spot to witness rolling clouds and forested ridges.

Mount Kaingaran (2,482m asl / 8,143 ft) - Ranked as Malaysia’s fifth-highest peak, Mount Kaingaran is renowned for its incredibly rich mossy forest ecosystem. Expect thick moss-covered paths, winding roots, fog-draped trees, and naturally formed bonsai-like vegetation—features that make the trail feel like stepping into another world.

This event promises an unforgettable adventure through some of Malaysia’s most pristine and challenging highland environments.

Airport transfer is included if you travel within the indicated period (see Knowledge Base). Also 4WD transfer from Tambunan Base Camp 1 to the trailhead and back is included in the package.

This is a multiple day event for which you will not need to bring a tent. Camping bed accommodation under a flysheet will be provided. However, you will have to bring your own liner and sleeping bag.

This event does not include any meals, but you can purchase an optional food package which will provide you with three meals during the trek.

Also personal porter services will be available at an extra cost.

For those who don't purchase the food package, do note that the campsites will have the necessary cooking utensils for you to use.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you have a gps navigation app (like ~in alphabetical order~ AllTrails (paid version), Gaia, Hiiker, Komoot, [Maps.me](http://maps.me/), OSMAnd, Wikiloc,...) installed on your phone and make sure that it is working properly. If you don't have an app installed yet, we suggest to use Hiiker to start with. Once you have downloaded the offline map of Laos, you can easily import and navigate any gpx file. More info can be found in the Knowledge Base sub Event Information (general) - How to prepare myself for navigation...?

Do not come to the venue if you have not pre-installed a gps navigation app at home, or have not downloaded the map of Sabah at home, or have not opened the test gpx file at home. Especially iPhone users are urged to make sure that they can open the test gpx file at home and are able to navigate.

Although there will be guides, this still remains a self-guided hike. You will receive a gpx file in advance and you will have to navigate yourself. There will be no paper markers.

Do note that we will perform a check of the mandatory items right before the start of the trek. Those who are not in the possession of all mandatory items will not be allowed to start the hike.

For more details and procedure, follow this link.

IMPORTANT: keep in mind that there is always a chance that we are not allowed to hike due to dangerous weather or other conditions (eg heavy rain, flood, earthquake, landslide, health measures...) - we cannot be held responsible for such cancellation.
